During 2006, R&H was contracted by the Hatch, Mott MacDonald and Guba “HMG” Joint Venture to conduct a pre-feasibility study on the entire Transnet Freight Rail network. The aim of this study is to determine the current installed rail infrastructure network capacity and to develop a 30 year investment strategy and plans that will be able to cater for future South African transportation needs. The output of the study is a “30 Year National Rail Infrastructure Plan”.
